Seattle, WA - jcoco is an elegant new line of American chocolate bars created by Jean Thompson, the “j” in jcoco. Every luxurious mouthful of jcoco chocolate combines premium chocolate with all-natural ingredients sourced from around the world. Like a couture fashion designer, Jean pays meticulous attention to every aspect of the chocolate-making process to ensure a one-of-a-kind sensory experience, from the moment the customer sees and opens the beautiful package to the final, memorable bite.
“With jcoco, we've made a line of chocolate that is beautiful inside and out," says owner and CEO Jean Thompson, who has spent the last ten years tasting and studying fine chocolate and listening to what her customers enjoy about chocolate.
The jcoco line combines contemporary flavors and global inspirations with a fashion designer’s sensibility. The result is a tasting experience that is stylish and modern yet approachable – delighting the eyes and satisfying the palate. "Customers want to buy something that reflects who they are,” explains Jean, “so we created something that's fresh, fun and a pleasure to eat and share.”
“Our belief in sharing extends to the communities where we live and work,” adds Jean. With jcoco, a customer’s everyday indulgence has a direct and meaningful impact on someone in the immediate community. Every time jcoco chocolate is purchased, the company donates a fresh, healthy serving of food to someone who would otherwise go hungry. jcoco's Northwest partner is Hopelink and its East Coast partner is the Food Bank of New York. The company plans to establish community giving partnerships in major markets where its products are sold.
jcoco chocolate bars are available in five varieties: edamame sea salt, veracruz orange, noble dark, black fig pistachio, and vanuatu origin (SRP $7.95/three 1-oz bars). All contain three solid 1-oz bars, each wrapped in an elegant copper foil, perfect for sharing or savoring one at a time. The density of the bars is just right – not too thick, not too thin – to achieve an exquisite mouthfeel.
edamame sea salt in milk chocolate-- This crunchy bar was inspired by the cuisines of Asia with a unique American twist. Rather than traditionally boiling the edamame beans, they’re slowly roasted to bring out their rich nuttiness then dusted with sea salt -- much like an American almond would be prepared. The overall effect is reminiscent of a classic nut-and-chocolate bar but lighter, with a perfect balance of sweet and salty. There's even a touch of soy sauce! Made with non-GMO soybeans.
veracruz orange in white chocolate-- A fresh orange sliced open and sprinkled with chili powder is a favorite treat on the Yucatan Peninsula. This intriguing bar echoes those flavors by balancing the sweetness of pure white chocolate with citrus and vanilla and finishing with a gentle kick of chili pepper. The warmth that lingers on your tongue makes this bar satisfying and memorable. Gluten free.
noble dark 72% dark chocolate-- Belgium is known for producing the finest chocolate in the world, and it's the source of this 72% cacao couverture Noble Dark chocolate bar. It delivers deep, smooth, rich and intense flavor, along with a velvety texture -- without a trace of bitterness. Gluten free.
black fig pistachio in dark chocolate-- This dark chocolate bar is generously studded with dried organic black mission figs and whole roasted pistachio nuts from California. The luscious taste and texture of the chewy figs is enhanced with the light crunch of the pistachios, and both complement the flavor of the dark chocolate for a rich and deeply satisfying taste experience. Gluten free.
vanuatu origin milk chocolate -- The cocoa beans for this special bar are grown, fermented, and dried in Vanuatu, an island nation in the South Pacific. The island chain is so tiny that a single boat was chartered to collect the first crop of cacao beans. The unique characteristics of the islands' local soil contribute to the delightful caramel notes of this remarkable chocolate, resulting in an addictive and one-of-a-kind single-origin milk chocolate bar. Gluten free.
The slender bars are packaged in vibrantly colored recycled paper that's surprisingly soft to the touch, with the velvety feel of a fine handbag. Tucked inside each eye-catching "clutch" are three perfectly portion-controlled bars – a concept that Seattle Chocolates pioneered. jcoco is now available at Zabar's in New York, as well as online at jcocochocolate.com.
